Spotting temperatures breaking the record in June 2025, doctors are asking people to take simple measures to stay safe against the scorching heat of summer. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) further said numerous parts of the country are currently facing heat waves, with temperatures rising above 45°C in select areas of Delhi, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh.
Here are health tips recommended by doctors to ensure protection:
Stay Hydrated
Drink 8-10 glasses of water daily. Increase dehydration prevention by adding lemon, coconut water, or ORS. Say no to sugary sodas and alcohol.
Eat Light and Fresh
Select fruits such as watermelon, cucumber, and pomegranate. According to doctors, light meals help to cool down the body and prevent digestive problems.
Dress Right
Wear loose-fitting cotton clothes in light colors. Use sunglasses and a wide-brimmed hat, and carry an umbrella when you step out.
Avoid Peak Heat Hours
Doctors warn against being out from 12 noon till 4 PM. However, if one has to step out, they must use sunscreen (SPF 30+), stay in the shade, and take breaks often.
Keep Your Home Cool
Close curtains to reflect sunlight. Stay in air-conditioned spaces or shaded areas. Take cold showers to cool the body.
Watch for Heatstroke Signs
Be on the lookout for dizziness, a fast pulse, nausea, or a high temperature. If signs show up, get help right away.
These summer health tips are supported by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and top hospitals throughout India. Small measures prevent big health issues.
Be cautious, be hydrated, and pass on these heatwave precautions to your loved ones.
