India Stands Firm: ‘Never Accept Mediation’ — PM Modi Tells Trump on Pakistan

PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a phone call with U.S. President Donald Trump during the G7 Summit held in Canada. The discussion, which lasted more than 30 minutes, included a briefing from PM Modi on India’s Operation Sindoor. According to Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, Modi clearly stated that India has never accepted, and will never accept, any mediation on its issues with Pakistan.

Modi said that the ceasefire between India and Pakistan came about in the month of May through their militaries talking to each other, and that neither the U.S. nor anybody else was involved in mediating. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri was clear: “India has never accepted mediation, does not accept it, and will never accept it”.

In the conversation, Modi informed Trump about the activities of Operation Sindoor—to include a precise strike on terror sites in Pakistan—and added that it was held in abeyance at Pakistan’s request and not because of the United States or trade deals. He stressed that at this point, India treats terrorism not as a proxy war but as an actual war.

Trump is reported to have expressed support for the Indian position against terrorism. Modi also invited him to visit India—Trump stated that he would like to during the next Quad leaders’ meeting.
